Why Juventus need the right players and the right coach – Part 3
Posted On July 14, 2021
3.14.2016 19:14:47 With Juventus’ Champions League and Serie A campaigns in the books, it’s time to start looking at the squad.
There are a few players that should be in the starting XI at the start of the season, with Antonio Cassano having been the most prominent and arguably the most influential since joining in January.
Juventus need a player who can help them to reach the next level.
Antonio Cassano has been a regular in the first team since joining Juventus in January 2018Antonioso Cassano scored 13 goals in 19 games for Juve last season.
He scored the only goal in the 3-1 win over Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia last month.
He is currently third on the team’s all-time assists list, with 14.
He’s not just one of the best players in the world, he is one of those players that can contribute to Juventus’ success.
The former Milan forward has scored seven goals in 26 league appearances this season, including a hat-trick in the 1-0 win over Sassuolo in the Serie A last weekend.
Cassano’s versatility is a strength, and he’s not afraid to put his head down to get himself into the right positions.
He has been used as a central striker, a holding midfielder, and a central defender, all with great success.
This season he has been paired with Alessio Romagnoli in central midfield, where he has played alongside Alessio Quagliarella, Antonio Nocerino, and Domenico Berardi.
Cassano can play on the left or right flank, or as a right-back.
Cassanoes versatility is something that will need to be addressed if Juve are to be successful.
He needs to be used on either wing or in the centre of the defence, and if he can’t do that he’ll struggle to win games.
If Cassano is a left-sided player, he needs to get on the ball more, and to get more involved in the play.
He’ll have to improve his passing, which is something he has struggled with recently.
It’s difficult to predict how the new season will go for the Italian international.
The likes of Nocersaldo, Berardi, and Cassano will all be competing for the starting spots, and his form has not been good at all this season.
Juventus will need him to step up, but it’s hard to see him ever playing as much as he has recently.
With Juventus in a better position this season and with many of their goals scored in the league, it would be nice to see a little more of the goalscorer, but with the fact that they are in a position to make the Champions League this season it is more likely that he stays at Juventus and stays at a club like Napoli or Juventus.
Juventus should look to recruit another striker, as well as adding some new talent.
The recent signing of former Serie A star Lorenzo Insigne is another example of a player that could make the step up to the senior team, but that’s not the only player that Juve should look at.
He may have to take a big step forward in his career to become a real success in Serie A, and that’s a shame.
