The province’s new map will allow residents to see how far apart they live by looking at the distance they have travelled, compared to their neighbours.
The province’s map will include detailed information about people living in the GTA, including their height, weight, gender and age.
In addition, the map will show the average commute time between two locations, as well as information on the health of the communities in between.
Ontario is trying to get people’s heads around the new map, said Ontario’s chief health officer, Dr. Mark Gillett.
“We are trying to bring a lot of information in and out of the province, because people will use the map to get more information about the health outcomes that they’re seeing,” he said.
“I think that’s the right thing to do.”
Ontario’s map, which is still in development, will be a collaboration between the Ministry of Health and the Ontario Public Health Network.
It will also include information on what people are drinking, where they are and the number of people who are obese or overweight.
The maps will be free to download and will be available on a monthly basis through the province’s website, the province said.
Ontarians can also search for health information using the HealthMap website.
